| SALAM was created to address inequalities in access to healthcare services across the Mediterranean, with particular urgency in Lebanon and Jordan, where recent crises have further exposed staff shortages, weak infrastructure, and limited access to care. Bringing together partners from Italy, Spain, Lebanon, and Jordan, the project promotes a more equitable, sustainable, and people-centred healthcare model by expanding digital health solutions such as telecardiology, establishing two hospital hubs, and deploying mobile medical units. |
SALAM also seeks to strengthen healthcare systems through professional training, community engagement, the adoption of more human-centred approaches such as narrative medicine, and the development of low-cost medical devices through open innovation processes. By connecting hospitals, universities, and civil society organisations, the project delivers practical and replicable solutions designed to improve the quality, resilience, and inclusiveness of healthcare across the territories involved.
